Malique Thompson-Dwyer got to know Noel Edmonds in the I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp yesterday - after admitting he initially couldn't remember who the TV legend was.
Throughout the 80s and 90s, Noel fronted some of television's most-loved shows, including House Party, Telly Addicts and Top of the Pops.
More recently, he served as the host of hit Channel 4 gameshow Deal or No Deal for over a decade.
However, most of Noel's glittering career has eluded Malique, who, aged 20, is the youngest I'm A Celeb campmate this year.
The Hollyoaks actor admitted yesterday that he couldn't quite place Noel when he emerged as the Emperor during his late arrival.
"When you first came out everyone was like 'Yeah!'. I recognised your face, but I couldn’t put your face (to a) name," Malique said.
"I was like, 'Nick', and he said 'Deal or No Deal' and I said 'oh yeah, no deal'!"
The pair began to bond as Noel filled in the details about his path to fame.
"I started out in kids' TV. We invented Saturday morning television with something called Swap Shop," he recalled.
"I was a DJ for a while. I did the Radio One Breakfast Show."
Curious about Noel's age, Malique pegged him at 49 - and was shocked to discover he'll be turning seventy next month.
He then asked Noel which of their fellow campers he'd made connections with.
"I feel very comfortable with everybody," Noel commented. "There’s fifty years between you and me, and I feel very very comfortable chatting with you."
Explaining their conversation in the Bush Telegraph, Malique commented: "I was fascinated for what he was telling me and we kind of clicked as well.
"He’s just a decent guy. A lovely man and I had no idea that he was 69, nearly 70."
Meanwhile, Noel was full of praise for Malique, saying: "There is a simplicity about him, and I don’t mean that for a second in an insulting way. He’s very straightforward."
I'm A Celebrity airs nightly at 9.00pm on ITV, followed by Extra Camp on ITV2.
