I'm A Celebrity 2018: Malique, Emily Atack face the skydive as celebs form rival teams

Reds and Yellows take to their Jeeps for Hell Holes challenge

I'm A Celebrity 2018 - Malique Thompson-Dwyer faces the skydive

Malique Thompson-Dwyer and Emily Atack faced the dreaded I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! skydive as the other stars battled to win them for their teams in a launch twist.

The ITV jungle show's eighteenth series began with the campers being split in to two opposing teams.

James McVey and Rita Simons founded the Yellow team, and chose Anne Hegerty and Fleur East to join them after winning the Edge challenge.

Meanwhile, Harry Redknapp and Nick Knowles teamed up with John Barrowman and Sair Khan on the Red team.

However, there were two more stars yet to be claimed, and the rivals faced another task to determine who went where.

Each side's two newest members had to get in the front seats of a Jeep, one driving and one navigating.

Racing up a sandy track, the navigator had to collect tokens from Hell Holes and pass them to the driver, who deposited them in different Hell Holes.

As regular viewers will know, a Hell Hole is a mysterious chamber full of critters that celebs must reach into without knowing what's inside.

Taking the wheel for the Yellows, Fleur struggled as their Jeep became stuck in the sand.

Meanwhile, the Reds' Harry amused his driver Nick with a story. "I used to think I was a good driver but I had a nightmare and ran over my wife one day," he revealed.

"She got out the car and I thought she’d crossed the road. I pulled forward and she fell into the road and a bus stopped literally yards away.

"The most amazing part of the story, my grand-daughter is sitting on top of the bus and sees all this!"

The navigators' Hell Holes contained spiders and mud crabs, while the drivers had to contend with green ants.

Harry and Nick completed the challenge first, and therefore won the right to decide whether Malique or Emily would become the Red team's final member.

After a group discussion, they chose Malique, leaving Emily to join the Yellows.

But before they could join their new teams, the pair discovered they'd be taking on I'm A Celebrity's annual skydive.

A helicopter whisked Emily and Malique 12,000 feet above ground, leaving them both terrified.

Malique, who spoke of his fear of heights, was first to take the plunge.

Aghast at his jump, Emily then screamed continuously as she fell from the chopper. "I can’t imagine anything more frightening than this," she said.

The exhilarating experience ended with them landing on a beach, where they finally met their new teammates.

"I think I’ve just got over my phobia," Malique smiled.

I'm A Celebrity airs nightly at 9.00pm on ITV, with Extra Camp straight afterwards on ITV2.
