The Great British Bake Off 2018 winner has been confirmed – who won the series tonight?

It was the last show of the series this evening as

There were three brand new challenges for the finalists this evening – including a bake off first.

Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith were back to set the tasks, past judgement and ultimately decided who won the Great British Bake Off tonight.

And after 10 weeks, it was Rahul who was named the Great British Bake Off winner 2018.

The 30-year-old from Rotherham competed in the final alongside 27-year-old Kim-Joy from Leeds and 29-year-old Ruby from London.

Rahul was left in tears as he was congratulated on his win. He reacted: “This is probably the first time I’ve got something like this… I don’t know. I talk so much most of the time, I don’t know what to say now.”

Paul told cameras of Rahul: “I don’t think he still realises how good he is.”

In the judges’ last Signature challenge, the bakers had to tackle doughnuts and the tricky task of immaculate decoration.

Then there was a deceptively simple Technical, save for one key feature: it’s not baked in the tent! Yes, for the first time in Bake Off history, the contestants went out to cook on open fires.

“Make good use of your heat source,” said Paul before the challenge was revealed as six campfire pitta breads with a trio of dips.

It was then onto the final day where the bakers’ friends families gathered outside the tent alongside all of the eliminated contestants.

The last marathon challenge lasted four hours as Prue and Paul asked for an intricate, multi-layered, edible landscape Showstopper.

The three finalists went all out to get themselves the title – perhaps pushing things a little too far.

“I worry that some of them have such ambitious plans, they may not finish,” admitted Prue.

There was then drama when one of Rahul’s glass jars shattered, forcing him to restart his bake.

Once time was up, it was over to Prue and Paul to taste before announcing the winner of the Great British Bake Off.

The Great British Bake Off 2018 airs on Channel 4, hosted by Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding. You can apply now for GBBO 2019.
