Fresh from Celebrity Big Brother, Roxanne Pallett has quit Channel 4’s Celebrity Island just days into the series.
Roxanne has hit headlines over the past few weeks after her actions on Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5.
She left the house earlier this month in the wake of controversial claims she had made against fellow housemate Ryan Thomas.
In last Monday night’s live show, Roxanne spoke to Emma in a pre-recorded interview about the ‘punchgate’ scandal. She said: “I’m the most hated girl in Britain right now. It’s the title I feel everyone has given me right now. All I can do is own it, accept it and apologise.”
Just a week after the controversy, Roxanne made another television appearance.
She took part in the Celebrity Island on Bear Grylls, which was filmed earlier this year in May.
Roxanne is one of this year’s ten celebrities set to endure four weeks surviving in one of the toughest environments on earth.
Leaving behind their friends, family, mobile phones and social media accounts and giving up their luxurious showbiz lifestyles, the well-known group make a remote and uninhabited island their home.
But Roxanne quit just days into the show in last night’s opening episode.
She was left in tears over the camp fire, saying that the smoke reminded her of a house fire when she was younger.
“It was the smoke the nearly killed my family,” she sobbed. In a house fire when I was sixteen.
“The smoke, the smell is taking me back to that time. It feels like its happening again.
“It just reminded me of gasping for air thinking I was going to die.”
The next morning, Roxanne declared: “I feel s**t. I need to go. I’m really suffering. I’m really struggling with my thoughts.”
She then called Bear’s safety team and asked to be evacuated from the island. “Please can you come and get me now,” she begged over the emergency satellite phone.
“Being here is just damaging. I can’t cope. Enough is enough,” Roxanne told her fellow contestants.
Alongside Roxanne, the Celebrity Island line up this year includes actor, Eric Roberts, actor and musician, Martin Kemp, double Olympic gold medal rower, James Cracknell, Olympic boxer, Anthony Ogogo, TOWIE star, Pete Wicks, model and TV personality, Jo Wood, Love Island star Montana Brown, journalist, presenter and transgender activist Paris Lees and TV doctor and Dr Saleyha Ahsan.
The Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls airs Sunday nights at 9PM on Channel 4.
Celebrity Big Brother 2018 continues nightly on Channel 5.
