Rylan Clark-Neal says Celebrity Big Brother is the 'only real reality show'.
This year's Big Brother has been delayed in an apparent move to avoid clashing with the villa-based programme.
Discussing the two programmes, Rylan said this weekend: "I don't know if Love Island was the reason they held it back, but I've never watched that show - I'm Big Brother till I die.
"It's the only real reality show, the only one where they are cut off from the outside world and don't leave the house."
He told The Sun's TV Magazine: "Love Island is a hybrid of Big Brother and Made In Chelsea.
"People need to remember that without the original Big Brother, none of these other shows would exist. This show is real life and we don't meddle because we don't need to."
While ratings for Celebrity Big Brother have dropped in recent years, those for Love Island have soared.
The most recent series wrapped up at the end of July with over 4 million watching, breaking records for ITV2.
Rylan said: "Good luck to 'em.
"What is to stop CBB from getting that? I will fight tooth and nail - and I've got a lot of tooth - to get that. And it can do it."
Rylan will be back hosting Bit On The Side from when Celebrity Big Brother launches next Thursday, August 16 on Channel 5.
This year's series has been given a new 'Eye Of The Storm' theme.
Channel 5 teased previously: "All of the celebrity names entering the house will have been caught up in their own media storm. And now, the celebrities are once again putting themselves in the public eye and this time they have a lot to prove."
Main show host Emma Willis revealed this she knows who's going in .
She said: "When I heard a few of the names of the celebs coming on this year my jaw hit the floor! I think the theme is interesting because it is the eye of the storm so from what I believe we will see people who themselves have been in the eye of the storm be that either on the receiving or giving end.
"What will be really interesting is seeing the other side of the stories that we’ve not heard before."
Rumoured housemates include headline grabbing footballer Jermaine Pennant, Hollywood actress Kirstie Alley and American porn actress Stormy Daniels, who is currently at the centre of controversy surrounding president Donald Trump.
More celebs tipped for the Celebrity Big Brother 2018 line up this summer include, TOWIE's Dan Osborne, Love Island's Gabby Allen, Corrie's Ryan Thomas, So Macho hitmaker Sinitta, 'Human Ken Doll' Rodrigo Alves and Psychic Sally Morgan.
Celebrity Big Brother begins on Channel 5 at 9PM on Thursday, August 16. Bit On The Side airs nightly on Channel 5 with Rylan.
