The new look Celebrity Big Brother 2018 eye and theme has been revealed for this summer.

The news was announced on Big Brother's 18th birthday, with the first ever series kicking off back in 2000 on this day.

"Here's a very special treat to mark our 18th birthday: a first look at the BRAND NEW #CBB eye!" Big Brother teased on Twitter.

The eye is made up of glowing neon lights surrounded by storm clouds.

"Celebrity Big Brother: Eye of the Storm, coming soon to @channel5_tv," Big Brother tweeted.

Host Emma Willis added: "A storm is a’brewing…🌪🌪 #CBB is back!! See u in August @channel5_tv 😝 Happy 18th birthday @bbuk!!!!! 🎉🎂 xx"

This year the celebrity series will kick off Big Brother's summer season, instead of the usual 'civilian' version.

Although Channel 5 has not yet confirmed a start date, the new series has a rumoured launch date of Friday, August 17.

The show typically lasts just over a month, running through until the end of September.

Meanwhile, this summer's Celebrity Big Brother cast is said to have a 'scandal and comebacks' theme, with producers supposedly after 'controversial' housemates.

Names linked to the Celebrity Big Brother 2018 cast already include headline grabbing footballer Jermaine Pennant and Kieran Hayler, the estranged husband of former Celebrity Big Brother winner herself Katie Price.

Another of the names rumoured is American porn actress Stormy Daniels, who is currently at the centre of controversy surrounding president Donald Trump.

More celebs rumoured for the Celebrity Big Brother 2018 line up this summer include Celebs Go Dating's Charlotte Dawson, X Factor and Ex On The Beach's Casey Johnson plus Goggleboxer Sandra Martin.

Also rumoured have been TOWIE's Pete Wicks & Bobby Norris, Corrie's Ryan Thomas and TV presenter John Leslie.

Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother air on Channel 5.

Alongside Emma, Rylan Clark-Neal will be back to front spin-off show Bit On The Side.
