New E4 reality series 'Desperate Scousewives' to rival MTV's 'Mersey Shore'

E4 are reportedly set to announce a new Liverpool based reality show called 'Desperate Scousewives', according to the Daily Star. The show, based around the fiction US hit Desperate Housewives, will compete against MTV's new series Mersey Shore this autumn.

According to the newspaper, the two competing shows are already clashing over filming locations in the coastal city.

An insider said: “Liverpool is a great city but there are only a handful of really top locations that production companies would want to use. Naturally, each company wants to exclusive so there’s a war being waged on the streets. And it’s not just locations.

“Casting bosses are trying to find their best group of wannabes. But yet again, their paths are crossing.

“It’s a mad race against time to secure the best location and the best cast. It seems Liverpool just isn’t big enough for the both of them.”

Both 'scripted reality' shows will follow the 'real' lives of a group of 20-30-somethings from the city.
