In tonight’s show, the contestants take part in a ‘Mr & Mrs’ challenge to see how much the couples know about their partners.

Laura is left in tears after the task, having taken one of Wes’ answers personally and made a hasty retreat to the Beach Hut.

The drama begins when, in response to the things he finds the biggest turn off in a girl, he answers ‘arrogance and ignorance.”

Laura takes immediate offence, venting: “You said two things that you find unattractive and a turn off. Arrogance and ignorance and you said I was ignorant. I’m not ignorant.”

As emotions run high in the Beach Hut, Laura declares: “So annoying. He just picks at me all the time. Expects me to be this perfect person. He’s so harsh and rude to me sometimes.”

Frustrated by Laura’s reaction, Wes tells the boys: “She’s 29 years old, I’m 20, I want to talk about something as opposed to just storming off, coming back, bottling up a load of emotions, then coming back and exploding.”

Elaborating further in the Beach Hut, Wes admits: “I just want to talk to her but she’s just stormed off. I get that there’s insecurities, and I get that she might feel embarrassed but embarrassed about what?

“No one batted an eyelid, no one made a comment. I think she just needs to talk to us instead of just storming off.”

When Laura returns for a conversation with Wes by the pool, it soon becomes clear that both have a very different viewpoint.

Wes begins: “Honestly you’ve got the wrong end of the stick. Everyone’s been ignorant in this place.”

Laura replies: “You’re on thin ice, I swear to God. Do you not think it’s insensitive to sit there in front of everyone in that game and tell me that I’ve been one of the traits that you find off-putting and call me ignorant. You just said that. I’m just give, give, giving and you’re take, take, taking. That’s how I feel. I don’t feel like you do anything remotely nice for me.”

Love Island 2018 airs tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
