The first Britain's Got Talent 2018 semi-final was watched by an average audience of just under 7 million viewers.

Last night saw the first live show this year with comedian Lost Voice Guy and singers the D-Day Darlings the two acts making it through to the final.


The performances - which were hampered by technical problems - were watched by an average audience of 6.9 million viewers.

A peak audience of just under 9 million tuned in, a significant rise over the 5.6 million who watched Saturday's previous episode.

As for the results show, 5.7 million returned at 9:30PM to see who went through plus a performance from Matilda The Musical.

The live shows continue at 7:30PM tonight on ITV with David Walliams' golden buzzer, singer Donchez Dacres, choir B-Positive Choir, singer Calum Courtney, impressionist Andrew Lancaster, singer Ronan Busfield, dance group Futunity, comedian Nick Page and illusionist group Magus Utopia.

Elsewhere in yesterday's ratings, Coronation Street outperformed BGT to become the most watched show of the day. The first of five special episodes airing at 9PM all this week had 7.3 million viewers.

Earlier, Emmerdale interested 5.3 million with its latest episode.

Over on BBC One, 4.3 million caught Eastenders which went head to head with Britain's Got Talent.

Peter Kay's Car Share saw big ratings at 10PM, with 6.1 million viewers tuning into the final ever episode.

Although Peter has ruled out a new series, he and co-star Sian Gibson have hinted we could see some more one-off specials in the future.


"We never said that there wouldn't be any more Car Shares... we just said there wouldn't be a third series," Peter teased.

Sian also suggested that there could be even more to come, saying: "Never say never!"
