Britain's Got Talent 2018 had a hilariously awkward moment tonight when the judges buzzed off a magician Amanda Holden hired for her daughter's birthday party.

Professor Strange, real name Allin Kempthorne, was thrilled to be at the London Palladium for the ITV show's try-outs.

"The Palladium is the heart of British variety," he said. "Every good act has been on this stage, and now it’s my turn."

However, things quickly became awkward when Amanda asked Allin how long he'd been performing - while failing to recognise him.

"Quite a while. Have a look at me," he responded.

"Your daughter’s birthday party, I was the magician. Hi!"

Amanda was left red-faced as the audience burst out laughing at the surprise revelation.

"Oh, it’s good she remembers, isn’t it!" exclaimed David Walliams.

For his big trick, the professional entertainer put a decorated cardboard box over his head.

He proceeded to skewer the box with umbrellas, as if they were going straight through his skull.

The illusion wasn't fooling anyone, and three of the judges soon buzzed.

Only Amanda held off - but David sneaked over and hit her buzzer, bringing the audition to an end.

Though he didn't see Professor Strange at the Royal Variety Performance, Simon acknowledged his appeal to children.

"I don’t think there’s much else to say, but I think Eric will love this," the Syco boss said, referring to his son.

"Let’s make this happen, are you gonna book Professor Strange for Eric’s birthday party?" David asked him.

"That’s none of your business, because you’re not invited," smirked Simon.

As Professor Strange headed home with four no's, David had another dig at Amanda, chuckling: "Great act you booked for your kids, really good!"

According to The Sun, Allin's costume was to blame for her mindblank.

A source 'close to' the actress said: "He performed in a different outfit at Hollie’s birthday party. That’s why she didn’t recognise him."

Britain's Got Talent continues next Saturday at 8.00pm on ITV.
