This summer's Big Brother could be the longest ever, according to a sketchy report.

It could be the last ever series to air on UK TV, with Channel 5 yet to renew the show beyond 2018.

And according to the Daily Star newspaper, it may be the longest ever run clocking in at over 14 weeks.

A source told the tabloid: "Everyone is being told to leave at least twelve weeks free.

"They are saying it could be the longest ever and are making people aware a fourteen-week stretch in the house is highly possible."

However before we all get too excited about lots of Big Brother, the rumours seem rather questionable.

In recent years, Big Brother has been getting shorter rather than longer with last year's series fewer than 8 weeks long.

It's therefore somewhat likely that the 12 to 14 week figure includes not just Big Brother but the summer's Celebrity series too.

That usually lasts 4 to 5 weeks and typically follows straight after.

For now, we'll have to wait and see.

So far, Channel 5 has announced no details about the summer show with rumours that it may not launch until August time.

It's said TV bosses are keen to avoid a clash with reality rival Love Island which airs on ITV2.

Last year the two shows launched on the same night and continued clashing most evenings.

The result was Big Brother's lowest viewing figures to date, something which Channel 5 will no doubt be wanting to avoid repeating.

Sources claim that Big Brother may not begin until August 31 or September 7, as opposed to its typical June air date

As for Big Brother' future beyond the year, Channel 5 hasn't confirmed if it'll renew the show - but last week it was said it definitely won't return in its current form.
