Strictly Come Dancing’s Karen Clifton ‘hasn’t given up’ on Kevin Clifton marriage

Strictly Come Dancing’s Karen Clifton says she’s not given up on her marriage to Kevin Clifton.

The couple recently confirmed press speculation that they were no longer together.

Kevin revealed the news on Chris Evans’ BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show last month, insisting they were still “the best of friends”.

And despite that personal split, they’ve said they will continue their professional dance relationship.

Now Karen has said she hasn’t given up on a reunion between herself and Kevin.

“It’s important to be open to all possibilities. I haven’t given up on it. I saw my parents break up and I didn’t like it,” she told the Daily Mail‘s Weekend magazine. “I think the best thing for now is to behave like adults and take a break.

“He can go his way, take care of what needs to be taken care of, and I’ll do the same.”

Karen added: “You never know what’ll happen; maybe even in a couple of years… It’s just that right now this is what we need.”

In an interview ahead of their upcoming tour, Karen and Kevin said that splitting has made them stronger.

“This is about to be the best work that we have done, I feel that,” he said. “Being honest about everything has unlocked a real creativity. We are stronger than ever.”

Karen told HELLO Magazine: “It is about being true to yourself, and respecting one another.

“I respect and admire Kevin as a performer, a human being, and I’ve always looked up to him, that will never stop.”

She added: “We want to be positive in all of this.”

Meanwhile, whether or not the pair will be returning to Strictly Come Dancing this year has yet to be confirmed.

Strictly bosses say this year’s line up of pro performers will be announced in due course.

Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One in the autumn.
