After five weeks of auditions, here’s a look at the early favourites to win Britain’s Got Talent 2018.

Last Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent saw a host of new hopefuls get through to the next stage and a new golden buzzer act.

Alesha Dixon hit the golden buzzer for Lifford Shillingford, a 42-year-old singer from South London, who has gone into the betting as a 12/1 shot alongside fellow newcomer and singer Ronan Busfield and singing Irish priest Father Ray Kelly.

Ronan Busfield, a Tesco worker, wowed with his rendition of ‘Maria’ from West Side Story and received four yesses from the judges.

There has been some controversy surrounding Alesha’s choice of golden buzzer act as Shillingford, who was on Artful Dodger’s ‘Please Don’t Turn Me On’, revealed he was on the circuit with Dixon during her Mis-Teeq days.

Amanda Holden is the only judge who has yet to press the golden buzzer for an act.

Currently, the D-Day Darlings remain the favourites to win Britain’s Got Talent this year but the competition is wide open at this stage.

Aoife Heffron, Spokesperson for BoyleSports commented “Despite the controversial decision to hit the Golden Buzzer for Lifford Shillingford, Alesha Dixon’s not without a chance of having chosen the winner as he is currently a 12/1 shot to go all the way and take the title.”

She added “The D-Day Darlings remain the ones to beat as the live shows draw near after their emotional wartime performance in week 4 saw them shoot to the head of the betting as 5/1 favourites.”
