The pair had been together for three years and engaged for the past seven months.

But it was said last month that the couple had parted ways, with claims that Jake’s Dancing On Ice victory was partly to blame.

Appearing on ITV’s Lorraine today, Jake broke his silence about the rumours.

He confirmed: “We’re having a bit of time apart, kind of dealing with ourselves, and work, and being busy.”

Jake added: “I’ve got so much respect for Dan and her family and everything they’ve done. For me, it’s just about taking some time out and seeing what happens really.

“But like I said, there’s not a bad word. I was with her on Monday, we still talk and I still love her to bits, but sometimes you’ve got to go away to come back.”

A source alleged to The Sun newspaper previously: “Jake and Danielle have been joined at the hip since her dad introduced them. But winning Dancing On Ice has meant Jake’s had other priorities.

“He’s been touring the country with Kem on the show’s tour and getting a lot of female attention, which hasn’t been easy for Danielle.

“Things aren’t going to get any easier on that front either, with Jake set to join The Dreamboys strip group.”

The insider claimed that the couple had “decided to take a breather” and that “the wedding is very much off for now.”

Jake met Danielle via her dad, motorcycle racer Carl Fogarty, who appeared alongside Jake in 2014’s I’m A Celebrity series.

Former X Factor contestant Jake recently competed on revived Dancing On Ice, winning the series.

He’s since been on the road with the show’s live tour ahead of his debut as one of The Dreamboys.

Jake said on his revealing new job last month: “I’m looking forward to showing off my new dance moves on tour with The Dreamboys and meeting everyone within such a well-established and professional show.

“I love having fun and trying new things as life’s too short. I’ve met some of the boys before and they are a great bunch of lads, I hope the fans enjoy the show and I’m looking forward to seeing and meeting everyone on tour.”
