It’s a two horse race to win The Voice UK 2018 ahead of this evening’s final.
Last Saturday night saw the top four contestants decided for the live final this weekend.
Olly Murs, Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Jennifer Hudson went into the semi-final with two acts each following the knockouts.
In the semi-final, each act performed live for the first time before viewers voted for their favourites. The four acts with the fewest votes were then sent home.
Now just four finalists remain: In The Voice UK final for Team Tom is 18-year-old student Ruti Olajugbagbe from Essex. She first auditioned with Budapest by George Ezra.
On Team Jennifer is Belle Voci, a duo made up of friends 26-year-old Sophie from Norwich and 25-year-old Emily from Mayfair. The pair performed Delibes’ Flower Duet in the auditions.
Team Will’s finalist is 16-year-old student Donel Mangena from Southampton who originally auditioned with Cold Water by Major Lazer and Justin Bieber.
Lastly, on Team Olly is 27-year-old student Lauren Bannon from Weymouth who performed Major Lazer’s Lean On at her audition.
As things stand in the betting odds, Ladbrokes make it a two horse race for The Voice crown, with the final taking place this weekend.
Having led from the offset, Donel Mangena will head into the final as the odds-on favourite at 4/7 and looked a shoo-in to be crowned winner for much of the series.
But Ruti Olajugbagbe has emerged as a genuine contender to go all the way in the last two weeks, having seen her odds fall from 20/1 to now just 2/1 – shorter than they’ve been all series.
Meanwhile, it looks as though Belle Voci (12/1) and Lauren Bannon (16/1) will do battle for third and fourth spot respectively.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Two weeks ago we only saw one person being crowned champ, but Ruti continues to be backed and it her odds of winning have never looked better than they are today.”
