Holly Willoughby is being tipped to join Dec on the Britain’s Got Talent live shows.
Ant announced this month that he is taking time off “for the foreseeable future” to seek treatment after being arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
The move means Dec, his best friend and presenting partner, will now appear solo for the first time in the much-loved TV duo’s two-decade career.
Dec has already confirmed that he will front the final two episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway when it returns on Saturday 31st March.
With Ant not expected to be present for the Britain’s Got Talent live shows, Holly Willoughby has been tipped to replace him.
Holly currently hosts This Morning and Dancing On Ice and previously fronted The Voice UK on BBC One.
Bookies Betfair have given Holly odds of 8/1 of joining Dec on the BGT live shows this year.
Meanwhile, a report has claimed that co-hosts Scarlett Moffatt and Stephen Mulhern will fill in for Ant on some of Takeaway’s regular segments from Saturday night.
According to the Radio Times, Scarlett and Stephen will be in the audience dishing out places on the plane to Florida for next week’s grand finale.
They will also join Dec for the End of the Show Show, headlined by Paloma Faith, which has apparently been tweaked to make it an ‘ensemble’ performance.
Dec will front other features on his own, such as the Win The Ads giveaway.
The news comes after it was revealed that, although he won’t appear live, Ant will still feature on Takeaway this weekend in pre-recorded segments.
Bosses have apparently decided not to cut the comedy whodunnit sketch ‘Saturday Knight Takeaway’, which heavily features Ant, so viewers aren’t left in the dark on how it ends.
Dec’s decision to go solo was likely agonising for the double act, as they previously vowed they’d never be split up.
In their 2010 autobiography, ‘Ooh! What a Lovely Pair’, Ant wrote: “We made an agreement – whatever happened, we’d be mates forever, and neither one of us would ever be on our own out there.”
