ITV have responded to claims Ant and Dec will be replaced on I’m A Celebrity 2018.

The pair have been fronting the ITV series for well over a decade now, with the show first airing in 2002.

But the future of the show is currently up in the air following Ant’s recent troubles.

The TV star has stepped down from all work commitments after being charged with drink driving.

Today, reports suggested that I’m A Celebrity bosses could replace the Geordie duo on this year’s series.

But a spokesperson for ITV told the Daily Mirror: “It is utter nonsense to suggest that Ant and Dec are set to be replaced on I’m A Celebrity.”

Sources had claimed to The Daily Star on Sunday newspaper that show bosses were considering getting in new presenters for the 2018 show.

“There’s a very real possibility that Ant won’t be available to present the next series of the jungle,” a source alleged. “While Ant and Dec are a big part of the show, they aren’t bigger than the show.

“They are confident it would still work without them.

“If their return is going to be a problem, producers aren’t afraid to axe them from the format and get new presenters in.”

While I’m A Celebrity remains a long way off, Dec has confirmed he’ll return to host Saturday Night Takeaway alone from next weekend.

He said: “Whilst I never thought I’d be in this position, after much discussion and careful consideration we’ve decided that the remaining two shows of this series of Saturday Night Takeaway will go ahead.

“We made a promise to take hundreds of deserving winners to Florida to watch the series finale, and we will honour that.

“Everyone at ITV and the Takeaway team feels we owe it to the audience to complete the series. Dec x.”

It’s also expected Dec will front Britain’s Got Talent solo when the live shows air from May.
