Yesterday was D Day for the successful Britain’s Got Talent 2018 auditionees as the judges decided who’s in the live shows.

Thousands applied and auditioned for the new series, which will see one act walk away with a massive cash prize in the grand final and a spot on the Royal Variety Show.

There were auditions in across the UK throughout January and February with all sorts of acts going before the panel in the hope of getting a yes.

They included the usual singers and dancers but also a plate smashing routine that ended in chaos and a moving performance from a victim of the Manchester Arena bombing.

Only a few hundred made it through after showing off their talents in front of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent judges, Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden.

Tweeting after the last auditions earlier this month, Alesha posted to Twitter: “So proud to work on @BGT we have had a fabulous time & this year you are in for a treat!!!

“Too much talent!!! An incredible tour! Well done to all who auditioned ❤”

Meanwhile, David Walliams joked: “The @bgt 2018 auditions are over. They was a blast. Thank you @antanddec @AleshaOfficial & @AmandaHolden for the laughs & @SimonCowell for paying my mortgage.”

But with only limited spaces in the live shows, the panel on Sunday had to decide who to cut and who to keep for the live semi-finals.

Five lucky acts had already secured their place in the live shows with the return of the golden buzzer, seeing each judge as well as hosts Ant and Dec able to send one act straight through to the final rounds.

For the rest, the panel had to deliver the good or bad news.

“And it’s #Dday @BGT.” tweeted Amanda Holden.

After a late night filming session, Amanda added: “@bgt #officially done until the lives #deliberation day #incredible lineup this year!”

Auditions for Britain’s Got Talent 2018 will start on ITV later this year.

Meanwhile the BGT live show finalists short list is generally revealed in May, with the live shows usually scheduled for around the first week of June.

Alongside the judges, Ant and Dec will return to host.
