Survival of the Fittest enjoyed a successful launch on ITV2 last night.

From the makers of Love Island, Survival Of The Fittest is a new reality series which started on Sunday night.

A team of single Girls and a team of Boys will battle it out in a series of stunning physical and mental challenges to determine which sex has the upper hand, while romantic dates will test their loyalties to the limit.

"Will the girls put sisters before misters and will the boys choose mates over dates? Or will the temptation be too much and they end up in bed with the enemy?" asks ITV2.

Survival of the Fittest launched with 664k viewers and a 3.5% share peaking with 825k last night.

It had 299k 16-34 viewers and an 11.8% share, ITV2's highest share for this demographic in the slot since the Love Island reunion show in July.

The 664k viewers is up on the year-to-date slot average by +0.2m (+50%) and +1.3 share points. For 16-34s it's up by +0.1m (+51%) and +5 share points.

It's the biggest new series launch on the channel since the launch of Family Guy in February 2016 (and in terms of original commissioned new series, since The Keith Lemon Sketch Show in Feb 2015) and helped ITV2 to secure its highest 16-34 prime time share for any day of the week since Love Island ended in July.

More notably, the show was up on the 600,000 viewers that Love Island started with in 2015.

Whether or not it can keep those viewers and grow to become as big - if not bigger - than Love Island remains to be seen...

For now, Survival Of The Fittest continues tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
