A new purpose built ice arena has been constructed for the upcoming show, which returns to TV on Sunday night.

A teaser video posted to Twitter gives a first glimpse at the venue, which was built from scratch.

“No studio was quite big enough for #DancingOnIce… so we had to build our own?,” wrote the DOI Twitter.

They added: “Just wait until you see our new home come to life this Sunday✨”

Legendary skating duo Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean will be reunited with original hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on the show that sees celebrity skaters take to the ice in a bid to dance and dazzle their way to glory.

Teasing the new look arena, Phillip said: “It’s specially built, it’s taken months to build.

“It’s an entirely purpose built studio and it looks to us, extraordinary.”

He added from the set: “When we first started the show years and years ago we were pretty excited, very nervous but excited.

“I’ve got to say the atmosphere in this studio now is considerably more excitement than it was when we first started.”

Jayne and Chris also hyped up the new look set, which is comprised of two rinks.

Jayne teased: “There’s also a tunnel connecting the practice rink to the main rink and we might see some tears there. Chris is calling it the tunnel of doom.”

Katie Rawcliffe, Creative Director at ITV Studios added: “We have dubbed [it] ‘the ice city’, and it will join the training rink and the show rink together.
