This weekend the eight remaining couples danced to impress the viewers at home as well as judges Shirley Ballas, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.

The panel marked all the routines as usual before the lines opened for the viewers to vote for their favourite after the performances at Blackpool’s iconic Tower Ballroom.

In Sunday night’s results, the marks from the judges for their latest dances were added together and combined with the results of the viewer vote.

Who left Strictly Come Dancing 2017 last night?

Those in the bottom were Paralympic gold medallist Jonnie Peacock and his professional partner Oti Mabuse; and Entertainer and radio presenter Debbie McGee and her professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

It was the second time in the dance off for Jonnie in as many weeks and it was his last as Jonnie left Strictly Come Dancing 2017 this week.

In the dance off, both couples performed their routines again; Debbie and Giovanni did their Samba to a Spice Girls Medley (Wannabe/Who Do You Think You Are?) and Jonnie and Oti performed their Tango to Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.

The judges then chose who to save and it was a unanimous decision.

Craig Revel Horwood said: “For technical cleanliness and outstanding performance skill I am going to save Debbie and Giovanni.”

Darcey Bussell agreed: “It’s very difficult because both couples made such improvements tonight but the couple I would like to save just on giving a technically more competent performance is Debbie and Giovanni.”

Bruno concurred “Let me say, they both did great jobs, great performances, very different, very effective but I have to save the couple who I think overall is much stronger and for that reason I save Debbie and Giovanni.”

Head Judge Shirley Ballas said she agreed with her fellow judges and would have also saved Debbie and Giovanni.

Therefore it was Jonnie and Oti who bowed out of the competition.

Speaking to Strictly host Tess Daly, Jonnie said: “Massively. I think it’s been an absolute honour to be the first disabled person and I want to thank each and every one of you for judging me as an equal. That’s what I want.

“You’ve been critical with me and I want that criticism; and I think that’s fantastic and hope it paves the way for more people to come through and I think they may be able to stick their bum under a bit better than me.

“I need to say an absolutely gigantic thank you to this woman [Oti] for pushing me because she knows what I’m capable of. Her choreography has been has been outstanding, and for putting up with me, pinching me, biting me – thank you so much.”

The remaining seven couples will return to the dancefloor once more next week when Strictly Come Dancing returns on BBC One.
