There was a surprise debut in the dance off for Mollie in last weekend’s results, one of the favourites to win.

On the Saturday, Mollie and her pro partner AJ Pritchard danced the Cha Cha to Better The Devil You Know by Kylie Minogue to score 27 points from the judges.

They were in the bottom two with Simon Rimmer and his pro dancer Katya Jones who had performed the American Smooth to Delilah by Tom Jones, scoring 16 marks from the judges.

Simon was bottom of the leaderboard while Mollie was sixth in the ranking at the end of the performances from the final 11 celebs.

As usual, the results from the public vote were added to the judges’ scores to decide the bottom two in the dance off tonight.

“We’re gutted, we’ve just got to give it our everything,” Mollie told host Tess Daly after finding herself in the danger zone.

Head judge Shirley Ballas told the pair: “I’m surprised you’re in the bottom two you did really well on Saturday evening.”

Both Mollie and Simon then danced again for the judges, who all backed Mollie to stay in the competition to send Simon home.

This week Mollie and AJ will be dancing the Foxtrot to Call Me Irresponsible by Connie Francis and are determined not to return to the dance off.

“In rehearsals they have vowed to come out fighting,” a source told the Daily Mirror.

Strictly Come Dancing 2017 is back this Saturday and Sunday night, live on BBC One.
