Over the years, Strictly has been blamed for ruining relationships with its supposed curse.

But soap actor Davood says all the speculation and romance rumours that pop up every year don’t bother him and his wife.

Davood, who is partnered with pro dancer Nadiya Bychkova, said: “My wife is used to all that happening. When you are playing a character, you have those bookends.

“With this, you have the bookends of being a dancer. You are doing a job.”

Appearing on ITV’s This Morning, Nadiya added: “My boyfriend, he’s okay with this. I am a professional dancer. He knows the way it goes.”

As for the actual competition, Davood says training has been going well for Halloween week despite plenty of painful moments.

This week, Davood and Nadiya will be dancing the Rumba to Wicked Game by Chris Isaak.

“I have never experienced anything like this. It’s non-stop,” he said. “I’m exhausted.

“The pressure is on more and more. It’s everything at the moment.”

Davood added: “My kids are obsessed by it, my family are obsessed. My daughters, Eva and Grace, I think they are embarrassed for me already. They are such big fans of Jonnie Peacock. I’ve been making him do little messages for them. They give at least one vote for him and three for me.”
