This evening saw the fourth round of live performances as each celebrity took on a brand new dance.

It was Alexandra Burke who topped the leaderboard, scoring the first tens of the series to achieve 39 points for her Jive.

But it was bittersweet for Alexandra, who was left in tears after chatting to host Claudia Winkleman over the recent passing of her mother.

Last week’s scoreboard champion Aston Merrygold took a knock this week but still had a strong 32 points for his Quickstep.

Meanwhile, Gemma Atkinson surprised the judges with her Paso, scoring 35 marks to place second on the leaderboard.

It’s safe to say that those three are very unlikely to be leaving tonight.

At the other end of the table, Ruth Langsford showed progress as her Tango scored her best marks yet with 24 points.

Charlotte Hawkins also improved climbing to 19 marks for her Jive but it wasn’t enough to stop her placing joint bottom of the scoreboard.

Simon Rimmer was hoping to bounce back from his bottom two appearance last week but mistakes in his Samba left him bottom of the leaderboard alongside Charlotte, and in the most danger of going home.

The total judges’ marks from tonight will now be combined with the results from the latest public vote.

The two celebrity couples in the bottom two of the overall rankings will find themselves having to dance again in tomorrow night’s (Sunday) third results show.
