The Great British Bake Off 2017 innuendo went up to a whole new level in last night’s show.
This week’s episode was the classic bread week with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith once again overseeing proceedings.
It began with a tea cake signature challenge before a tough technical saw the bakers tackle cottage loaves, the dough for which had to be made by hand.
The challenge led to the first innuendo overload of the evening, as Paul spoke of how the bakers needed to make sure their balls were “quite tight”
“The way that we do that and the way I do it is to drive my finger right the way through to the tray underneath,” he added.
“Do you flour your finger?” a giggling Prue replied.
As the bakers followed Paul’s instruction, the official Bake Off Twitter account joking posted a ‘censored’ clip of the fingering.
“Down with that sort of thing. #BreadWeek #GBBO,” they wrote.
When it came to the rankings, Kate came last in the ranking, with Prue pointing out that her effort was “slightly wobbly” and had a “soggy middle”.
Julia placed second, and Stacey was thrilled after her “very good” loaf came out in first place.
Finally, the showstopper round involved coloured bread sculptures, featuring at least three different natural colourings.
Paul burst out laughing at Julia’s ‘snail under a mushroom’ design, which came out a little, er, phallic.
“Just wait until it rises… #BreadWeek #GBBO” teases the Bake Off’s Twitter account.
Another viewer reacted: “bake off: the show where paul hollywood, a 51 year old man, nearly cries because a bread snail he’s eating resembles an d**k #GBBO”
But after calming down, Paul complimented Julia on its “fantastic taste” and “well thought through” design – while Prue noted its “lovely texture”.
And it was enough to see Julia awarded the title of star baker for Bread week.
Appearing flabbergasted by the result, she reacted: “I did not expect that whatsoever.”
Meanwhile, Flo’s Davy Jones-themed bread didn’t fare a swell with both judges put off by the “overwhelming” taste of paprika.
Liam and Flo found themselves in danger of elimination – and it was Flo the judges decided to send home.
“I’ve met some lovely people and I’ll remember that the rest of my life,” she commented.
