Aston Merrygold is the one to beat on Strictly Come Dancing 2017 ahead of tonight's first live show.

Strictly Come Dancing returned earlier this month with the celebrities getting matched up with their pro partners for the rest of the series.

They then took to the dancefloor and showcasing their moves for the first time in a group performance.

Aston remains the favourite for the Glitterball trophy as he looked more comfortable amongst the professional dancers than the celebs in training but has eased slightly to 11/4 from 2/1.

Mollie King is the 4/1 second favourite as punters continue to get behind The Saturdays star after an impressive group performance.

2008 X Factor winner Alexandra Burke is priced at 5/1 and is third place in the betting whilst Gemma Atkinson’s first group performance went down well with punters who have been keen on the Emmerdale star’s odds of 6/1.

Celebs who also impressed and have shortened as a result are Davood Ghadami, who is now 9/1 from 10/1 and Debbie McGee, who is now 16/1 from 25/1 to win.

Meanwhile, Susan Calman remains the outsider at odds of 80/1.

Aoife Heffron, Spokeswoman for BoyleSports commented “Aston Merrygold continues to lead the charge in the Strictly Come Dancing outright betting, but his professionalism on the dancefloor could be to his detriment as the SCD public generally like to see the progression from mediocre dancer to twinkle toes.”

She added “We are keeping a close eye on Davood Ghadami as he showed good potential in the group dance and shortened into 9/1 from 10/1 as a result.”
