Celebrity Big Brother 2018 could be shorter than usual, with Channel 5 apparently considering cutting it to 24 days.

C5 had been regularly extending CBB’s runs in recent years with the last winter series clocking in at a record 32 days.

However in a change, this summer’s series was the shortest in four years at just 25 days.

Now next winter’s January run could be even shorter.

According to a media brochure sent out to potential sponsors of the show, the next series will last “approx 24 days in January”. This would make it the shortest winter series since January 2013.

The documents do note that “scheduling is subject to change” so nothing is set in stone just yet.

2018 will mark the final year in Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother’s current contract with Channel 5.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival last week, Channel 5’s current boss Ben Frow hinted said he wanted to see big changes.

He said of the show: “We’re going to have a discussion about it. I need to know, like I would with any commission, what are the plans for the future? How will it be creatively renewed? How is it still important to me?”

Frow added: “It’s a very established brand, a very successful brand but there’s a big shiny new show on the block called Love Island. We need to take a good long look at Big Brother and go what does it look like for the future?”

He went on to say that Channel 5 were after shows that were “relevant for now” and “exciting for viewers”.

“I don’t think Big Brother just because it’s a big brand should be any exception to the rule,” he concluded.

So whether or not we will get more Big Brother after next year still remains to be seen…

For now, Celebrity Big Brother will return to Channel 5 in January.
