The Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls has received complaints for containing 'too much swearing'.

The first episode of the new series last week reportedly saw 66 expletives in just 45 minutes, including 52 uses of the F-word.

The Sun newspaper says Coronation Street’s Ryan Thomas and Olympian Iwan Thomas were the worst offenders, accounting for half the total between them.

Some viewers were so unhappy with the amount of swearing that they have even lodged official complaints to TV regulator Ofcom.

A spokesperson for Ofcom said: “We will assess these complaints before deciding whether or not to investigate.”

A Channel 4 spokeswoman responded to the complaints: "The series is appropriately scheduled after the watershed, was preceded by a strong language flagging, and reflects the experiences of those on The Island."

Celebs on the new series alongside Iwan and Ryan are Breaking Bad actor RJ Mitte, Actor & Rizzle Kicks singer Jordan Stephens and comedian Mark Watson.

They're joined by Former TOWIE star Lucy Mecklenburgh, Olympian & TV presenter Sharron Davies, Former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, Comedian & writer Shazia Mirza and TV doctor Sara Kayat.

In the first episode, Bear dropped them in a crocodile-infested swamp.

Finding water and making fire to purify it were an urgent priority in the sweltering tropical heat but when Iwan, Ryan and Jordan searched for water they got lost in the jungle and Ryan was attacked by a swarm of bees.

Celebrity Island continues this Tuesday night (September 5) on Channel 4 at 9:15PM.
