Strictly Come Dancing bosses are reportedly 'struggling' to sign big names to this year's line up.

Right now the BBC has revealed nine names of the official Strictly Come Dancing 2017 cast, and the reception has been rather mixed.

Confirmed so far are The Saturdays' Mollie King, EastEnders actor Davood Ghadami, Host of ITV's This Morning and regular Loose Women panellist Ruth Langsford, Reverend Richard Coles, and soap actress Gemma Atkinson.

Also on the official line up right now are TV chef and presenter Simon Rimmer, Holby City actor Joe McFadden, BBC Radio 4 comic Susan Calman and JLS singer Aston Merrygold.

The Sun newspaper says that those behind the scenes reckon its one of the show's most "dire" line ups ever.

“It’s a dire line-up and everyone knows it. Some of them are bound to only last weeks as no-one has ever heard of them," a source said. “Even staff at the BBC have admitted they had to Google some of them.

“They’ve really struggled with big names this year."

Strictly's so-called curse has been blamed, especially following last year's finalist Louise Redknapp's rumoured split from her husband.

“The Louise and Jamie split has scared a lot of big A-list stars off appearing on the show," the source added.

Former Strictly judge Len Goodman however recently admitted that he's often had no idea who the celebs on the show are.

Len, who stepped down from the series last year, confessed: "Totally honest: some of the celebrities we had on the show I didn't actually recognise at first.

"There are so many now. So many celebrities!"

Strictly Come Dancing 2017 will start in September on BBC One.
