Strictly Come Dancing 2017 line up: Simon Rimmer is the seventh confirmed contestant

The seventh celeb contestant on the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 line up has been confirmed this morning.

TV host Simon Rimmer is the latest name to join this year's Strictly Come Dancing cast, best-known for being the chef and co-presenter on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch where the announcement was made.


He has presented and cooked across many shows and channels including, has five cook books and owns ten restaurants.

But can he dance?

Simon said: “I am so excited, terrified and proud to be invited to be part of Strictly 2017. I've always been a HUUUUGE fan of the show. When I put on my sequins and hit the floor it will genuinely be my very first time dancing ballroom and latin.

"Nobody will try harder, have more fun or get more out of it than me. I can't wait.”

Simon joins actor Joe McFadden, best-known for playing the role of Raffaello ‘Raf’ di Lucca in BBC One’s medical drama, Holby City, as a confirmed contestant on the series.

Joe was the sixth name on the line up, following Reverend Richard Coles who was confirmed for the show on Friday. Reverend Richard Coles is a writer, broadcaster and Church of England priest and co-hosts BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live.


Last Monday, The Saturdays' singer Mollie King became the very first name officially confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 cast. Mollie said: “I'm a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing so I can't actually believe I'm lucky enough to be taking part in it this year!"

Actor Davood Ghadami became the next name to be revealed on the Strictly line up by the BBC. Best known for his role as Kush Kazemi in EastEnders, Davood said, “Having the opportunity to take part in this year’s Strictly is such an honour. "

On Wednesday, host of ITV's This Morning and regular Loose Women panellist Ruth Langsford became the third name to be announced for the show while Thursday saw Actress Gemma Atkinson confirmed.

Alongside those officially announced, rumoured celebs for the new series include comic Brian Conley, Dame Joan Collins, Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker, Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock and footballer Frank Lampard.

There's also X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, Robot Wars host Angela Scanlon, Bros singer Matt Goss, comic Joel Dommett and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe.
