Strictly Come Dancing 2017: Sixth celebrity contestant REVEALED

The sixth celeb contestant on the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 cast has been confirmed today

Actor Joe McFadden is the latest name for the show, best-known for playing the role of Raffaello ‘Raf’ di Lucca in BBC One’s medical drama, Holby City.


Joe said: “Strictly is one of the biggest, most entertaining shows on TV and being asked to be part of it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that I’m thrilled and terrified about in equal measures!”

As well as his role in Holby City, Joe has also played PC Joe Mason in Heartbeat and appeared in Take the High Road, The Crow Road and Sex, Chips & Rock ‘n’ Roll, as well as past theatre experience in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Rent in London’s West End.

Joe is the sixth name on the line up, joining Reverend Richard Coles who was confirmed for the show yesterday. Reverend Richard Coles is a writer, broadcaster and Church of England priest and co-hosts BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live.

He said: “Cometh the hour, cometh the overweight Vicar with arthritis in his knees.”

On Monday, The Saturdays' singer Mollie King became the very first name officially confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 cast. Mollie said: “I'm a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing so I can't actually believe I'm lucky enough to be taking part in it this year!"


Actor Davood Ghadami became the next name to be revealed on the Strictly line up by the BBC. Best known for his role as Kush Kazemi in EastEnders, Davood said, “Having the opportunity to take part in this year’s Strictly is such an honour. "

On Wednesday, TV presenter Ruth Langsford became the third name to be announced for the show. The host of ITV's This Morning and regular Loose Women panellist Ruth said, “I have dreamt about doing Strictly for so long, I can't quite believe my dream has come true!"

And Thursday saw Actress Gemma Atkinson confirmed. “I am honoured to be asked and so thrilled to be joining Strictly Come Dancing 2017!” said Gemma yesterday.

She added: “I'm beyond excited and incredibly nervous but I am looking forward to learning a new skill in ballroom and latin dancing and taking on this new challenge.”

Alongside those confirmed, rumoured celebs for the new series include comic Brian Conley, Dame Joan Collins, Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker, Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock and footballer Frank Lampard.

There's also X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, Robot Wars host Angela Scanlon, Bros singer Matt Goss, comic Joel Dommett and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe.
