The fifth celeb contestant on the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 line up has been confirmed this morning.
Reverend Richard Coles is the latest name to be revealed for the Strictly 2017 line up.
Reverend Richard Coles is a writer, broadcaster and Church of England priest and co-hosts BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live.
He is the only Vicar in Britain to have had a number one hit single with pop band The Communards in the 1980s, which went on to have three UK top ten hits and the biggest-selling single of 1986, Don’t Leave Me This Way.
Reverend Richard Coles said: “Cometh the hour, cometh the overweight Vicar with arthritis in his knees.”
On Monday, The Saturdays' singer Mollie King became the very first name officially confirmed for the Strictly Come Dancing 2017 cast. Mollie said: “I'm a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing so I can't actually believe I'm lucky enough to be taking part in it this year!"
Actor Davood Ghadami became the next name to be revealed on the Strictly line up by the BBC. Best known for his role as Kush Kazemi in EastEnders, Davood said, “Having the opportunity to take part in this year’s Strictly is such an honour. "
On Wednesday, TV presenter Ruth Langsford became the third name to be announced for the show. The host of ITV's This Morning and regular Loose Women panellist Ruth said, “I have dreamt about doing Strictly for so long, I can't quite believe my dream has come true!"
And Thursday saw Actress Gemma Atkinson confirmed. “I am honoured to be asked and so thrilled to be joining Strictly Come Dancing 2017!” said Gemma yesterday.
She added: “I'm beyond excited and incredibly nervous but I am looking forward to learning a new skill in ballroom and latin dancing and taking on this new challenge.”
More celebs will be announced regularly up until the launch show next month, with a total of 15 names expected on the full line up.
Alongside those confirmed, rumoured celebs for the new series include comic Brian Conley, Dame Joan Collins, Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker, Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock and footballer Frank Lampard.
There's also X Factor winner Alexandra Burke, Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, Robot Wars host Angela Scanlon, Bros singer Matt Goss, comic Joel Dommett and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe.
