RATINGS! Big Brother 2017 final least watched ever with fewer than 1 million viewers

Fewer than a million viewers watched the Big Brother 2017 final last night.

The latest series - which had launched to 1.3 million at the start of June - finished with an average audience of just over 900,000.

It was one of the show's better ratings in recent weeks but still below the million mark, with even the peak audience failing to go into seven figures.

It's Big Brother's least watched final by far, down some 600,000 viewers on last year and 400,000 on 2015.

Overall, Big Brother averaged around 800,000 viewers based on overnight figures this year - down around 400,000 on 2016 - it's least watched series ever by some margin.

Still, Big Brother is expected to return for at least one more run next summer with the show currently contracted until the end of 2018.

And following the end of Big Brother, Celebrity Big Brother will launch next Tuesday night on Channel 5.
