The winter reality series will be 'rested' for the next year due to the Winter Olympics.
They said: “The Jump has been a hugely successful brand for Channel 4 over the last four years, however, with such a huge amount of winter sport on screen at the start of 2018 we have decided to rest the show for the year.”
However The Sun claims that a return after 2018 is unlikely.
A total of four series of The Jump have aired to date and some 34 celebrity contestants have been left injured.
While the show did pull in big viewing figures for the channel, costly insurance and medical bills are said to have made the series 'too expensive'.
"It’s felt like The Jump has been on borrowed time for a while now as the injuries mount up series after series," a source commented. "The fact Channel 4 have decided against bringing it back next year suggests it’s not a loved property.
In addition, any potential fifth series would be under Channel 4's new boss.
"By 2019, Channel 4 will have a brand new chief who’ll want to make a mark with hot new shows of their own," an insider added to the tabloid. “Bringing back an expensive format green-lit by their predecessor us unlikely to be on their agenda.
“The writing appears to be on the wall. Resting The Jump for a year makes it easier to quietly cancel the show altogether.”
