Pitch Battle winners get £50,000 prize as public vote for their favourites

Pitch Battle: Portsmouth University Gospel Choir

The winner of BBC One's Pitch Battle tonight will receive a £50,000 prize.

After five heats, tonight is the final of the first ever series of Pitch Battle.

Six groups have made it through to the live climax including young chamber choir Tring Park 16, Portsmouth University Gospel Choir from the south coast and a group of five childhood friends from Loch Lomond, Scot Soul.

Joining them are a cappella group from Kings College London All the King's Men, the Leeds Contemporary Singers and and wild card act, Welsh choir Sgarmes.

In the Pitch Battle final tonight, host Mel Giedroyc is joined by a trio of musical judges: the nation’s favourite choirmaster Gareth Malone, former choirgirl turned international recording artist Kelis, and guest judge, the Pitch Perfect Deke Sharon.

In the final, the judges will whittle the six final choirs down to the top two through a series of head-to-head, sing-or-be-sung-off choral challenges - leaving the viewers to pick the ultimate winner.

The final opens with an epic musical mash-up, then each group will collaborate with a Superstar - which includes Will Young, Chaka Khan, Bebe Rexha and Seal among others - in a Showstopper.

Then the groups will battle it out against their opponent in a themed riff-off.

The judges will then decide three winners to send through to the a cappella round, and after that which two are the best.

At this stage it will be thrown open to the public to vote online to crown the winner of the £50,000 prize and the title of Pitch Battle Champions.

Pitch Battle airs tonight at 7:25PM on BBC One.
