The confirmed final date for Big Brother 2017 has been revealed.

Channel 5 has officially confirmed that Big Brother will finish its current run on Friday, July 28.

The latest run will conclude in a single live show from 9PM with host Emma Willis, finishing at 10:45PM.

It makes the series 54 days long, just slightly longer than last year's shortest ever series which ran for 50 days.

And in good news for Big Brother, it's expected that the final will avoid a clash with Love Island which is due to end its run a few days earlier.

The ITV2 series is also set to host its final the same week after both shows kicked off the same day last month.

When both Big Brother and Love Island kicked off last month it was the Channel 5 series that had the upper hand with slightly more viewers.

1.3 million tuned in to the BB launch show compared to 1.2 million for Love Island's third series opener.

But since then ratings for the two shows have taken very different trajectories.

Love Island has climbed to over 2 million viewers while Big Brother has failed to get more than a million for the past four weeks.

Meanwhile, Big Brother's finish will signal the start of summer's Celebrity Big Brother 2017.

Although not confirmed just, the new celebrity series is due to kick off less than a week after the Big Brother final on Thursday, August 3.

For now, Big Brother 2017 continues nightly on Channel 5.

The latest live eviction airs this Friday night at 10PM.
