Love Island contestants are reportedly told off for not wearing make up in the villa.

According to last year's winner Cara De La Hoyde, producers want the contestants to always look their best.

“It’s a glamorous show so they don’t want people looking crap all the time," she explained this week. "I used to get told off by the producers.

"During the day, me and Olivia Buckland would walk around with no make up and our hair on top of our heads. They used to say ‘Cara, people are watching you on TV and they want to see glamorous, please put some make up on.’ But it was so hot it just melted off.

"Luckily we had Kady and Malin who were really good at doing make up. At the final they sent a glam squad to come in to help us look nice."

Speaking to Glamour magazine, Cara went on to reveal how producers did at least buy contestants products during their stay.

“We were running out of foundation because you didn’t know how long you would be in there. You can request things and they will try to get them if it’s within their ability in Palma," she said.

Cara added: "It’s not fair to give them a big list but they helped out where they could. The final week my hair had gone really brown so I asked for some black hair dye because I like it darker. It’s little things.

"If it’s in their power to help, then they will get it. The boys asked for razors as well.”

Love Island 2017 continues nightly on ITV2.
