Having been pied at the first coupling, and having since settled with good friend Montana, Marcel is long overdue some luck with the ladies.
And it seems the Love Island gods were happy to oblige as the stars began to align for Marcel and Gabby, leading to their first proper kiss.
Gabby admitted that her feelings for Marcel were deepening by the day: “I have had butterflies but I don’t have them all the time. Maybe that’s because everything’s so chilled. My heart has flipped a couple of times.
"Oh God that sounds so cringe doesn’t it. The more I get chatting to Marcel, the more we have one on one time, the more I’m gravitating towards him. He’s so interesting and I find him really charming and he’s obviously trying to play it cool.”
Having worked out together in the garden, Marcel remarked that he was optimistic about their future in the villa: “It’s going really well with Gabby. I’m kind of liking her a lot. She’s kind of got a lot of similarities to me. There’s obviously a bit of chemistry there.
"They always say a couple that trains together, stays together, so you never know what’s going to happen.”
Later in a intimate chat, Marcel admitted: “I’m happy you know. You’re my girl in here, that I want to spend time with.”
Gabby replied: “We’ve got all the time in the world. I’m excited, because I think there’s good things coming.”
The pair then leaned in for a passionate embrace, which Marcel joked he’d rate a nine out of ten.
Chatting to Gabby, Marcel's current parter Montana gave her blessing and reinforced Marcel’s qualities as perfect boyfriend material: “Every night before bed, he’ll make sure I’ve got my eye mask and my water, he’s just lovely.
"He is just so good hearted; I’ve never met anyone like him. You can tell that he would look after you.”
A smitten Gabby replied simply: “Don’t tell me that I’m going to cry.”
Love Island 2017 airs tonight at 9PM on ITV2.
