The latest episode of the ITV2 series hit a season high of 1.4 million viewers despite clashing directly with Big Brother.
Across its first week of six episodes, Love Island has averaged 1.3 million viewers to date, well up on last year's series.
Straight after, Love Island launched its new spin-off show After Sun hosted by Caroline Flack which interested over 500,000 viewers between 10PM and 11PM.
Big Brother's latest highlights had 1.1 million viewers against Love Island, recovering from Saturday's low and in line with most of last week's highlights shows.
Both BB and Love Island went head to head in the 9PM hour against a trio of dramas. It was BBC One who won the slot with the start of Poldark's third series enjoying 5.5 million, up on the previous series' opener.
On ITV, new six-part drama The Loch also began strongly with 5 million viewers while on Channel 4, US series The Handmaid's Tale continued with a million viewers.
Elsewhere, the most watched show of the night was Antiques Roadshow which had 5.9 million viewers on BBC One to Countryfile's 5.3 million. On BBC Two, a repeat of Dragons' Den topped the evening with 1.3 million viewers.
