Big Brother 2017 spoilers! People's housemate revealed after viewer vote

Tom Barber has become the 'People's Housemate' on Big Brother 2017 on tonight's live launch.

This evening saw Big Brother series 18 begin and this year there was a Big Brother first.

For the first time ever Big Brother handed over power to the public. After 15 housemates were revealed, one final housemate position was put up for grabs which was decided by the public in tonight’s live launch, from a selection of candidates.

We were introduced to Andrew from Glasgow, Simone from Tesside, Sue from Bedfordshire and Tom from Swansea.

The four piece pitched themselves to viewers in the live launch before lines opened for the favourite to be decided.

After lines closed, it was revealed Tom had been chosen to enter the house as the People's Housemate. Simone finished the vote in 4th place, Sue was in 3rd place and Andrew was runner up in the public vote.

The People’s Housemate will hold great power within the house, even having access to the outside world.

Tom will join the rest of this year's housemates who were unveiled throughout tonight's launch show.

They include Ex On The Beach star Kayleigh Morris and Dreamboys' stripper Lotan Carter.

Joining them will be sisters Hannah and Deborah Agboola and husband and wife duo Imran and Sukhvinder Javeed.

There's also high flying nightclub owner Joe Quaranta, 22-year-old student Raphael Korine, self-confessed drama queen Ellie Young.

More housemates are Chanelle McCleary, another Ex On the Beach star and model, and the "wild and independent" Arthur Fulford.

Finally, another two duos are employer and employee pair Rebecca Jane and Kieran Lee, mum and daughter Mandy Longworth and Charlotte Key

As for Tom himself, Big Brother have revealed more details about the 21-year-old nightclub owner.

Tom isn’t afraid to splash the cash and lives a shamelessly flash lifestyle, he spends all his money on showing off in night clubs. He his own night club because his Grandad gave it to him. He regularly DJ’s at his club and sees himself as a entrepreneur.

His family own a house in Marbella, were he goes there regularly throughout the year, as well to Ibiza where he lives up to his party boy reputation.

Big Brother 2017 continues nightly on Channel 5.
