Wacky magician Niels Harder is upping the ante for the Britain’s Got Talent 2017 live shows with a performance involving a bed of nails - and an audience member.

Niels made the judges cackle during his audition by twerking to Beyoncé as he demonstrated his tricks.

He even had his own hilarious theme music, featuring the lyric: “Niels goes harder and the magic gets better.”

And it seems the Dutchman is taking those words literally.

Ahead of his appearance on the first BGT semi-final tonight, Niels has revealed this his act is about to get a whole lot more dangerous.

Speaking to the Metro, he said: “‘I’m so excited for tonight, it’s nerve-wracking.

“Tonight it’s going to be bigger, better and more spectacular than ever.

“I’m gonna use someone in the audience. It’s a death-defying act so we have to rehearse it again and again because it’s very, very dangerous.”

In fact, the trick is so perilous that a practise run ended in disaster.

“There are going to be really, really, sharp spikes in a big bed,” he continued. “Someone’s going to lay on the bed and when it goes wrong it’s the end of the show for me.

“We rehearsed with it in Holland and it went wrong.”

Niels is up against seven other acts on tonight’s live show, including David Walliams’s Golden Buzzer pick, Kyle Tomlinson.

The line-up also features St. Patrick’s Junior Choir, PC Dan, Empire Dance Crew, DNA, Tyrone & Mina and Miss Treat Vibe.

Britain’s Got Talent continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
