Britain's Got Talent 2017 was the most watched show on TV last night as the final auditions took place.

The seventh and ultimate instalment of this year's Britain's Got Talent auditions posted an average audience of 8.4 million viewers last night.

While it was the most watched show of the weekend - and had the same viewing figures as last year's equivalent episode - the numbers were down on last week's figure of 9.1 million.

A peak audience of more than 9.7 million viewers tuned in to the last round of auditions in front of judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and of course Simon Cowell.

The semi-finalists were then revealed ahead of the live shows beginning on Monday night. As usual, the semi-finals will air each night across the week before the final next Sunday (June 4).

Back to last night's TV ratings and the FA Cup Final averaged 7.9 million viewers on BBC One as Arsenal and Chelsea went head to head, up 900,000 viewers on last year's clash.

Doctor Who then went head to head with Britain's Got Talent, posting an average audience of 4 million viewers, down 200,000 viewers week-on-week.

Earlier in the evening on ITV, Take Me Out dropped to a series low of 2.6 million viewers - down 400,000 week on week - but The Keith and Paddy Picture Show rose to 3.2 million following BGT.

Meanwhile, over on ITV2, 500,000 viewers tuned in for the live Britain's Got More Talent special at 10PM.
