Dame Joan Collins has reportedly been approached to join the Strictly Come Dancing line up.

The English actress, arguably best known for her role in Dynasty, is said to be in talks with BBC bosses after they were turned down by former Bake Off judge Mary Berry.

A source claimed: “She’d bring plenty of glitz and old-school glamour to the dance floor, and she’s full of energy.

“She’d be a real draw with older viewers too. The bosses are going all out to get her to sign up.”\

At 84, Joan would be Strictly's oldest ever contestant if she took part in the show this autumn.

However Joan isn't the only "golden oldie" rumoured for this year's series.

78-year-old comic Tommy Cannon has also been tipped to join the Strictly Come Dancing line up for 2017.

The funnyman is best known for his work with Bobby Ball as part of comedy duo Cannon and Ball.

An insider told The Sun newspaper previously: "Tommy would be brilliant on the show and it’s quite exciting that he would be the eldest ever to appear."

Strictly Come Dancing will be back on BBC One later this year.

Other names linked to this year's Strictly cast at the time being include Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins, Gogglebox stars Steph and Dom Parker, Olympic gymnast Max Whitlock, footballer Frank Lampard and Olympian Jessica Ennis-Hill.

There's also Paralympian Ellie Simmonds, actress Carley Stenson, comic Joel Dommett and marathon runner Paula Radcliffe.

EastEnders actress Samantha Womack is said to be on the 'wish list' of stars for Strictly Come Dancing 2017 as well, alongside her former co-star Rita Simons.

However no names are officially confirmed yet and won't be until the autumn
