Simon Cowell's son to get his own golden buzzer on Britain's Got Talent... or is he?

The idea that Simon Cowell's son Eric would get his own golden buzzer on this year's Britain's Got Talent is just an April Fools.

The golden buzzer twist returns to the show for its eleven series, but this time with an extra twist.

Once again each of the judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon - plus hosts Ant and Dec - will have the opportunity to send one act straight through to the live shows right at the auditions.

They'll be able to press a golden buzzer on the judges' desk that sends the act on stage straight through to the live semi-finals, regardless of what the other judges think.

And for 2017, it was said there'd be an extra chance for acts to win a golden ticket through to the live stages thanks to Simon's son Eric.

It's been revealed on April Fools' Day that the three-year-old will get his own special golden buzzer alongside the judges and hosts.

"As everybody knows, Simon loves to keep things fresh on the show," a source told The Sun newspaper today. “He truly values Eric’s opinions and thinks he has got a great eye for talent."

The source said that while some on the crew had "raised eyebrows" over the move, Simon was confident it would win more viewers.

“Simon trusts that his son has got what it takes to find Britain’s next big thing," the insider explained.

Of course it was all just a joke, with little Eric not (yet) taking to the judges' desk.

But what isn't a prank is the fact that Britain's Got Talent will start on ITV in just a couple of weeks.
