The Voice UK contestant Jason Jones has revealed he's given up the day job to focus on the show.

The Team Will singer is one of eight acts left in competition going into this weekend's semi-final.

And Jason is risking a lot, having quit his job at an RAC call centre in the hope of making a music career for himself.

"I didn’t enter expecting to win, but I’ve come this far and I’m not ready to go home yet. I really want to win now and I don’t want to have to go back to the call centre," Jason said.

He admitted to the Birmingham Mail: “It was a risk to leave, but music is my future. I’ve put all my eggs in this basket. If Polydor don’t sign me I hope someone else will.

"I don’t want to sound arrogant but Will has told me I’m his favourite and said some great things about me, that I have an amazing voice and so on. It’s mind-blowing.

This weekend a further four acts will go home while four others will make it into the final.

“Now I’m just one round away from making my dreams come true," Jason said. “I have a really wicked song to sing, which I can’t reveal yet but I’m confident."

He teased: “It’s Will’s choice. I chose I Feel It Coming by The Weeknd last time and regretted it halfway through the week. I had my doubts but this week I have no doubts at all – Will knows what it takes to get an act to the final.

“He is quite reserved and doesn’t give much away, but in the last couple of weeks he’s really opened up to me.”

The Voice UK 2017 airs live this Saturday night at 8:30PM on ITV.
