The Voice 2017 finalists aren't worried about the show's 'curse'

The Voice UK 2017 live finals begin tonight and the final 12 contestants have brushed off the show's curse.

In five series on BBC One, The Voice UK failed to launch any real stars in the chart with last year's winner Kevin Simm not even making the Top 40 with his album.

But those on this year's show are hopeful with the series in its new home on ITV.

Last weekend saw the four coaches pick their acts for the live shows. In Team Jennifer: Jamie Miller, Mo, Jack Bruley. Team Tom: Nadine McGhee, Into the Ark, Craig Ward. Team Will: Jason Jones, Michelle John, Tanya Lacey and Team Gavin: Max Vickers, Truly Ford and Sarah Morgan.

Speaking ahead of tonight's show, Nadine told the Metro newspaper that ITV were already doing more to boost the profiles of the acts.

"I think you’re in a better place than where you started," she told the newspaper. "It hasn’t fazed me. It’s on ITV, it’s better already. Going on This Morning, Lorraine, Good Morning Britain for interviews, they’re never had that [at the BBC]."

Her teammate Craig added: "It’s long-lasting, it not about instant success. The idea is to send people on a road for a career in music. Everyone if possible, but of course the winner is a priority."

And Team Will's Tanya told the publication: "We’re really glad ITV are going all out. There seems to be a machine behind us, pushing us forward."

The Voice UK airs live tonight on ITV from 8:30PM with the quarter final.
