James Jordan is backing Anton Du Beke to replace Len Goodman on Strictly Come Dancing.

Former pro dancer James thinks his ex co-star would be the perfect fit.

"I think the guy deserves it," James told the Radio Times. "I think he is the right person for the job.

"I just think he’s done his apprenticeship on the show – people love Anton and if he gets the position, I will be more than happy for him. I will be extremely happy for him. Especially now he’s got two children on the way and everything, I just think he deserves it. Give it to Anton!"

No replacement has been confirmed yet but current Anton has reportedly been offered a screen test while Strictly chief choreographer Jason Gilkison has also been tipped as a potential replacement.

In fact, Jason is now one of the more likely candidates according to the bookies after some big bets.

“This gamble has taken us by surprise and if it continued Jason could leapfrog Anton Du Beke, who’s dream of becoming a Judge could be in tatters,” said William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams.

Alongside Anton and Jason, others tipped for the role include ballroom expert Gary Edwards, current and former pro dancers Brendan Cole and Karen Hardy, as well as ex judge Arlene Phillips.

Strictly host Tess Daly previously said the wait until a name is confirmed won't be long now.

Speaking at the National Television Awards, Tess said: "We don't know [who it is] - it's still under discussion."

She added: "I'd imagine we'll know by April."

Strictly Come Dancing will be back on BBC One later this year for its brand new series.
