The Voice UK 2017's viewing figures dipped to a surprising new low last night.

The second half of the weekend's battle rounds double bill was watched by just over 4 million viewers.

An average audience of 4.1 million tuned in to the show last night between 7PM and 9PM, down over a million viewers on Sunday's episode.

It's a potentially worrying sign for the show which has always struggled to keep ratings up once the blind auditions finish.

However the episode did face stiff competition from Call The Midwife on BBC One which topped the night's ratings with 8.6 million viewers.

The second round of the battles last year when The Voice UK was on the BBC had 5.2 million viewers, but this aired on a Saturday.

Back to last night and in the 9PM hour, ITV took charge over BBC One.

BBC's new drama SS-GB which last week opened to more than 6 million viewers dropped down to 3.9 million, allowing ITV's Good Karma Hospital to bounce back to 5.3 million, up 500,000 viewers on last Sunday.

Both shows are back next Sunday alongside The Voice UK which goes live for its knockout rounds.
