Ciara Harvie's blind audition on The Voice UK 2017 last night is getting everyone talking.

The adorable 18-year-old from Edinburgh surprised everyone when she opened her mouth and a huge operatic voice came out.

However the teenager, who had cited Beyonce as one of her inspirations, may have had a stunning vocal but it wasn't enough for the picky coaches who all remained with their backs to the stage.

Under the new rules of the show that meant that after singing Nessun Dorma by Luciano Pavarotti, Ciara made a sharp exit off stage without seeing or speaking to the panel.

But the coaches ended up breaking the rules and getting Ciara back out for a chat.

"You’re the only person we didn’t pick who we bought back out," Gavin Rossdale told the teen. "We had to because we respect the voice. You have such a career ahead of you."

"You’re heading in the right direction," added Jennifer Hudson, who tweeted last night watching the show: "Such a big voice for someone so young @ciarahmusic! Keep going at it. #TheVoiceUK."

Sir Tom Jones added: "You are very talented @ciarahmusic & you will make it! Just couldn't press my button as I don't feel I could have helped you! #TheVoiceUK"

Ciara herself tweeted: "I cannot thank you enough, I'm so inspired and I will never give up!!"

Some viewers accused the show's panel of being "lazy" for not turning around.

One fan wrote online: "#thevoice As i said a few weeks ago if you sing opera dont bother with the Voice you wont get picked."

Another agreed: "There's many singing shows but there really needs to be one for opera singers if #TheVoice judges keep rejecting them out of laziness."

The Voice UK returns to ITV next weekend with the final round of blind auditions.
