'Who is Gavin Rossdale?': The Voice UK coach wants you to stop asking

The Voice UK's new coach Gavin Rossdale has hit back at people constantly asking who he is.

The Bush frontman is one of four coaches on this year's show alongside fellow newbie Jennifer Hudson and returning coaches and Sir Tom Jones.

When the line up was first announced - and even now after five weeks of auditions - many people apparently aren't sure who Gavin is.

And he's not impressed that they keep asking.

'Who is Gavin Rossdale?'

Gavin told the Radio Times magazine: “All I wanted to tweet back was ‘Who are you? Who is anyone?’

“We all are nobody, so I just was in the club. Why was I guilty? I just made records and I wasn’t [pretending to be] in a band that had the kind of prestige of Radiohead.”

Gavin went on: “I’m not trying to be Justin Timberlake. So why am I being criticised because I’m not on Radio 1, who don’t want to play my records? It’s not my fault.

"When did I ever make a statement that I should be known and that I had made this concerted effort to be a pop star that everyone knew. I never was that guy. But I’m still making the records – and come to my shows: they’re packed.”

While some viewers may not have any idea who he is, those who have performed for Gavin and his fellow coaches haven't had any problem identifying the rocker.

Right now Gavin has almost completed his team with just two free spaces on his line up of ten talented performers ahead of Saturday night's latest blind auditions show.

The Voice UK is back Saturday at 8PM on ITV.
